Researchers walk through a forest during a fieldwork trip.

For Peatlands’ Sake was created in collaboration with Dr Katy Roucoux from the School of Geography and Sustainable Development, University of St Andrews.

Dr Roucoux and her colleagues are part of the Peatlands@St Andrews research group (P@StA). Their work focuses on peatland ecosystems across the world, and particularly on peatlands in Peruvian Amazonia, the Congo Basin and Scotland.

They are part of a large international group of researchers (the Tropical Wetland Consortium) working together to answer questions about why and where peatlands exist, how they function as ecosystems, and how they contribute to the livelihoods and wellbeing of local people.

Their work aims to protect peatlands and biodiversity while bringing environmental, ecological and cultural benefits to local communities.
